What can I visit at Domplein?

On and around Domplein, you can discover over 2,000 years of Utrecht’s history. You can visit several remarkable locations, such as the Dom Tower, DOMunder, Palace Lofen, and the Dom Church. Are visits at Domplein self-guided or always with a guide?

A visit to the Dom Tower, Palace Lofen, and DOMunder is only possible with a guide. The Dom Church can be visited both with a guide and independently.

Can I visit Domplein without a ticket?

Yes. Domplein itself is freely accessible and you can walk around at any time. Discover here what there is to explore. In addition, there are regularly activities on and beneath Domplein. Sometimes a ticket is required, and sometimes activities are free to attend. You can find all information about the activities here.

A ticket is required for a visit to DOMunder, Palace Lofen, the Dom Tower, or a guided tour of the Dom Church. These can be purchased via the ticket page.

Do I need to book in advance, or can I visit on the day itself?

We recommend booking your visit in advance online via the ticket shop. During weekends and peak season, tours can sell out quickly. If there is still availability, it is sometimes possible to visit on the day itself, but booking in advance offers the most certainty. If you would like to purchase tickets on site, you can do so at the Utrecht Store/VVV at Domplein 9.

What time should I arrive for my tour or visit?

Please make sure you arrive on time, preferably 15 minutes before the start. Tours at Domplein begin at a fixed time. If you are late, you may not be able to join. Check your ticket for more information.

Can I visit multiple locations?

Yes, for some activities combined visits are possible. At Domplein, there are several ways to combine multiple locations into one visit. Check the ticket shop for the available options.

How do I get to Domplein?

Domplein is located in the historic centre of Utrecht and is easily accessible on foot, by bike, by public transport, and by car.

On foot: from Utrecht Central Station, it’s about a 15-minute walk to Domplein.
By public transport: from Utrecht Central Station, you can also take a bus towards the city centre. The Janskerkhof stop is the closest.
By bike: you can park your bike at Domplein. On weekends, there is a supervised bike parking facility.
By car: it is recommended to park on the outskirts of the city, for example at P+R Westraven or Science Park, and continue by public transport to Domplein. Closer parking is available at Springweg Parking Garage or Hoog Catharijne.

Where does my visit to Domplein start?

That depends on which location or activity you have booked. For many tours and tickets at Domplein, the Utrecht Store / VVV at Domplein 9 is the central starting point and information desk. Always check your ticket confirmation or the location page for the exact starting point before your visit.

Are the locations at Domplein accessible to everyone?

Accessibility varies by location. Some locations are easily accessible, while others are more limited due to historic staircases, height differences, or underground spaces. Is a visit to Domplein suitable for children?

Yes, Domplein is enjoyable for families and curious children. However, what is most suitable may vary per location depending on the child’s age. For DOMunder, a recommended minimum age of 8 years applies. The Dom Tower also offers special tours for children.

Can I visit Domplein with a group?
