Celebrate 200 years of Domplein during a special summer evening filled with encounters, stories, and good food. On Tuesday, 21 July, Domplein will be transformed into a large open-air restaurant for one evening. Two hundred residents of Utrecht will gather at long tables to enjoy a shared dinner in the heart of the city. Sharing a meal, meeting new people, and celebrating the story of Utrecht – right where people have been coming together for centuries.
A Square for Meeting
When the last remains of the collapsed nave of St. Martin’s Cathedral (Dom Church) were cleared away in 1826, the open space we now know as Domplein was created. Two hundred years later, the square has become a place for meeting, reflection, and celebration.
With the Domplein Dinner, we reflect on that significance. Around one table, residents from different parts of the city come together for an evening of conversations, stories, and new connections.
Sharing Food, Sharing Stories
The dinner is hosted by Resto VanHarte, an organization that has been bringing people together around the dinner table for many years.
The evening is not only about the food, but above all about the connections that arise through sharing a meal. There will also be music, stories, and small contributions that connect the history of Domplein with present-day Utrecht.
An Evening for the City
There are 200 seats available for the Domplein Dinner. Half of these places are offered through Resto VanHarte. The other half are available through ticket sales on this website.
This creates a diverse group of Utrecht residents with different backgrounds, ages, and life experiences. It is precisely this encounter that makes the evening special.
How do I get to Domplein?
Domplein is located in the historic centre of Utrecht and is easily accessible on foot, by bike, by public transport, and by car.
On foot: from Utrecht Central Station, it’s about a 15-minute walk to Domplein.
By public transport: from Utrecht Central Station, you can also take a bus towards the city centre. The Janskerkhof stop is the closest.
By bike: you can park your bike at Domplein. On weekends, there is a supervised bike parking facility.
By car: it is recommended to park on the outskirts of the city, for example at P+R Westraven or Science Park, and continue by public transport to Domplein. Closer parking is available at Springweg Parking Garage or Hoog Catharijne.

The dinner is accessible to everyone. If you have specific accessibility questions, please contact us in advance at domplein@utrechtpartners.nl.
House Rules
When attending the Domplein Dinner, the following rules apply:
- Instructions given by volunteers must always be followed.
- The organisation reserves the right to refuse entry to the dinner, for example if a person is under the influence of drugs or exhibits disruptive behaviour.
- Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
- It is not permitted to bring or consume alcoholic beverages during the event.
- Domplein is a historic site. Please treat the surroundings with respect. Visitors are liable for any damage or theft caused by them.
Will the Dinner Take Place in Bad Weather?
In the event of bad weather, the dinner will be held inside the Dom Church. You will be informed upon arrival.

With your ticket, you pay for a place for yourself and for a fellow resident of Utrecht.

De Domtoren is het hele jaar geopend. Naast onze reguliere rondleiding, organiseren wij regelmatig andere activiteiten en speciale rondleidingen in de toren. Bekijk onze agenda voor meer.
Kaartverkoop
Tickets voor een rondleiding of liftbezoek koop je eenvoudig van tevoren via onze online ticketshop of aan de kassa in de Utrecht Winkel / VVV, gelegen op Domplein 9. Dit is ook het startpunt van de rondleidingen op de Domtoren. Let op: het is niet toegestaan (hand)tassen mee te nemen de Domtoren op. Hiervoor stellen wij gratis kluisjes ter beschikking.

Let op: dit combinatie ticket is 7 dagen geldig en is niet verkrijgbaar via onze digitale ticketshop. Tickets zijn alleen te koop bij de kassa van Museum Speelklok of in de Utrecht Winkel / VVV op het Domplein 9.
